The 2014 Emmys award show had the stars come out sparkling, quite literally, as the red carpet became awash with a sea of sequins, sparkles and metallics. It might technically still be summer, but this trend has our sights set firmly on autumn/winter and (dare we say it yet?) the festive season. That means it’s time to turn up the glamour dial.
Love them or hate them, there’s nothing quite like these star studded awards shows to get us excited about fashion. Even the dresses that make us say, ‘what was she thinking?’ get us wondering about how we would have done it different – you know, should we have designers falling at our feet and unlimited budgets of course.
One of our favourite looks of the night was the flawless and seemingly ageless Lucy Liu. Wearing a stunning pleated Zac Posen gown, she graced the carpet with an elegance so effortless she set the precedent for next season’s glamour for us. Even though the fabric is sheer, the sculpted cups win the best supporting role award with this dress.

If you want to copy Lucy’s style with a low cut design, but can’t get away with not wearing a bra, fear not; there are plenty of ingenious underwear styles on the market now to suit any neckline.
Wonderbra’s ultimate plunge bra is amazing for the lowest of low cut garments and in classic Wonderbra style, offers the eye-popping cleavage boost for those who are brave enough to bare it.
If the deep curved plunge seems a little too ‘out there’ for you, a classic underwire bra can still cradle your cleavage yet remain discreetly tucked away out of sight. The Panache Porcelain bra is perfect with pretty much any neckline, especially deep Vs and the simple style will give you that subtle barely there feel, but with the structure to hold you firmly in place all night.
So when it comes to party outfit planning, don’t think you can’t wear certain styles, you really can make anything work for you with the right preparations underneath.
Now the big question - who gets your vote for best dressed at the Emmys, or more importantly, what style steal will you be taking on next season?
